What Is Down Syndrome???

Down Syndrome also called trisomy 21, is a condition in which genetic material causes delays in the way a child developes, and often leads to mental retardation. Most cases of it result from faulty gamete cell division and are not inherited. Not many of the people with down syndrome inherited the defect from the mother or father.


Symptoms of Down Syndrome

There are many symptoms of down syndrome. Some of these are mental retardation, an upward slant to the eyes, and decreased muscle tone. Also people that have down syndrome tend to have flattened faces, depressed nasal bridges, small nose and mouth, and abnormal shaped ears.
